Honoring our Past, Celebrating the Present, Embracing our Future
To Our Village Community,
It is hard to imagine exactly one year ago this week we closed the village museum. Like everyone else we had no idea what the future would hold for any of us. Looking back, we now know it was, and continues to reign as, one of the most heartbreaking, challenging, and unprecedented periods in our nation’s history.
My goal at this point in time is to reach out to you, our village residents and business community, toward capturing the impact this past year has had on our village. Movies, books, documentaries, and the national media will forever capture the national stories. However. years from now generations will ask, “What was it like for you in 2020? What do you remember most about what was happening in the village and how did it impact your daily life?”
If you would like to contribute to this initiative, just think about the questions posed above and those moments that left the greatest impression or impact on you, your family, business, or place of employment.
You can email me a photo(s) that captured a moment, or perhaps a short essay, social media posting, sign or banner from your business. The village museum will serve as the depository for these materials, which I or future historians may incorporate to tell our story. You can email photos, essays etc. to: historian@villageofmontgomery.org. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any thoughts or questions. You may choose to consider this opportunity as a worthy church, school, or organization project. If you want to drop something off, I would be happy to arrange to meet you at the museum.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Brian
