Water and Sewer Information

Water meters are read twice per year (April & October) with the bills due in June and December.  If your meter is not accessible for a reading, a self addressed card will be left for you to complete and mail back the Village Office.  Please note unpaid June bills will be added to the December bill along with a 10% penalty.  If the bill is not paid by the following March 31st, it will be re-levied on your Village tax bill for June.  Please contact the Village office at 845-457-9661 immediately if you have any questions.

If you did not receive your bill, call the office immediately.  Failure to receive your bill does not excuse you from timely payment of the bill.  It is the property owners responsibility to be aware of the meter billing schedule and ensure timely payment in order to avoid penalties.

The water supply to any premises shall not be turned off or turned on (except in case of emergency) at the curb except by an authorized employee of the Village of Montgomery DPW. When the water is turned off in case of emergency, the Village Office DPW must be notified within twenty-four hours.

Water/Sewer Meters

All water used on any premises or for any purpose must be metered.
Only meters provided or approved by the Village of Montgomery are permitted for installation. Upon application, the Village of Montgomery will supply a meter for each service at the initial expense of the property owner.
These meters remain the property of the Village of Montgomery. Any damage to a meter caused by the carelessness of the owner or their tenants will be repaired or replaced by the Village of Montgomery at the property owner’s expense.
Meters must be placed and maintained in a location that is free from obstructions to ensure easy access for the Village of Montgomery Meter Reader. Tampering with the water meter, valves, fittings, or connections is prohibited.

Water/Sewer Rate

The sewer use charge/rent is based on the metered consumption of water by the sewer user. The sewer rate is determined by dividing the annual sewer operating and maintenance budget by water usage per annum within the village to derive a sewer rate per one thousand. A minimum rate for water/sewer usage of 4000 gallon minimum is established.

Minimum bill = 4,000 gallons ($37.40)

First 4,000 gallons water (minimum)              $15.40
First 4,000 gallons sewer (minimum)             $22.00

 Water:
$4.45 per thousand gallons for usage less than 50,000 gallons
$5.15 per thousand gallons for amount over 50,000 gallons

Sewer:
$5.50 per thousand gallons after minimum

Water out of district: $11.15 per thousand gallons.
